synchronizing problems

i've downloaded a XVID movie that had a few seconds corupted (the video was messed). i converted it to MPEG-2 using TMPEG and the sound gets out of synch in the part where the video is messed. in the original XVID the sound was in synch after that part...
what can i do to fix it? plz help me..

Cut out the bad frames from the original file and save with a new filename, using either VirtualDub or NanDub, then use TMPGEn cto convert the modified file...
