    Keep getting a black screen after 8mins with Tmpgenc

    I am encoding an avi in TMPgenc to make it an svcd.
    I had to split 2x 700mb avi's into 4x350mb avi's via virtualdub and I also converted the audio into compliant wave files(44100).

    The last 3 avis have encoded perfectly--it is the first (and most important) avi I am having trouble with.

    After about 8 minutes of encoding, the screen goes black. The avi plays perfectly all the way through when I watch it via Windows Media Player, so I can't see why it goes black at the 8 minute mark.

    Any suggestions???

    Try the following with the "problem" 350Mg .AVI:

    1) Load into VirtualDub or NanDub

    2) Set BOTH 'Audio" and "Video" to 'Direct Stream Copy"

    3) Save with a new filename

    Let us know of your success ;>}

      Thankyou for your reply...

      I had done that , and still I had no success.
      But I am trying this....
      I scanned for video errors using virtaldub, and it came up with some bad frames, so I then selected audio-direct stream copy and video-direct stream copy and then saved the new avi.

      I am now encoding with my new avi in Tmpgenc, and I will see how it goes after the 8 min mark.

      Crossing fingers..
