    Try frameserving

    You need three progs...VirtualDub TMPGEnc and VobSub

    Locate VDub dir. and doubleclick on AuxSetup.exe.Then Install Handler
    Open .avi in VDub and set Video tab to Full Processing Mode
    Then select Filters from the video dropdown menu.
    Press add and select TextSub.Open subfile and press OK.
    File-->Start Frame Server.Give it a name (something.vdr<--.VDR is important)and press start.

    Open .vdr file in TMPGEnc and select proper template(or set up manually).
    Wait until encoding is finished and you will have subs on (S)VCD.

      Thanks for the tips.
      I now get subtitles on the movie,but not in line.
      It is a divx movie.
      I don't know what you mean about start frame server.
      When i do that i see nothing.
      I choose a compression methode (mpeg4 or DIVX) and save the file als a new avi.
      Problem is that subtitles aren't syncroom together.
      Why must i use TMPGEnc?

        "Why must i use TMPGEnc?"

        Aren't you creating a SVCD?

          I have a question concerning this:

          What if I have a movie which VirtualDub can't read the audio part of it? (I know it has audio working, b/c I can see and hear the movie in WMP9 with nimo codec pack- but in virtualdub he frameserves only the video, not the audio. =(

            "What if I have a movie which VirtualDub can't read the audio part of it?"

            And what audioformat is this (probably VBR Mp3 or AC3)?

              AC3 I think (at least GSpot says so)

              Also, is it normal to lose quite some quality when I remove the sound part of a movie? I start to getting things in purple/violet tonalities! O.o

                First,Vdub doesn't support AC3, however NanDub and some VDub mods do.
                Second, AFAIK AC3 is not supported for frameserving.

                You can open the file in NanDub then do the following:

                Set Audio tab to Direct Stream Copy
                File-->Save WAV...
                Rename extension to .ac3

                Set Video tab to Direct Stream Copy
                Set Audio tab to No Audio
                Save AVI...

                Repeat for second part

                Load silent .avi and the ac3 track in TMPGEnc

                Working...
