    Has anyone encountered this error?

I've been trying to convert an AVI file to Mpeg to make a VCD. I usually use virtualdub to check the frames, but every time I try to open the file, I get the following error.

    "Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'MP43' (Microsoft High-speed MPEG-4 V3)

VirtualDub requires a video for windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. Directshow codecs, such as those used by Windows media player, are not suitable"

I try to open it in TMPGEnc, but it always gives me a "TMPGEnc.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" error. It only does it with this file, because I used TMPGE to make several Mpegs already.

Has anyone seen this? If so, have you solved the problem? I think I need to get a new codec, but I don't know which one. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you already have the DivX v.3.11alpha codec installed on your system, use FourCC changer (on a COPY of your original .AVI) to change the header code to DIV3...
