I thought .avi files were a divx form ... you shouldn't have to convert them -- you should be able to slap it into TMPGEnc as is (or so I thought)

Well i am percistant and how do you fix those problems using virtual cub instead of anti freeze?Comment

whoops! sorry I was away from the comp ^_^;;
k, so virtual dub. you play your avi file in it. if your file has bad frames, virtualdub will freeze. you delete the bad frame with virtualdub's menu options and then rename the file so you can tell apart later
hope that helpsComment

then why did you say that i could use it? any way take a while quess about how to use it. ANTI FREEZE is a bust but if you can tell me how to use Virtual Dub to do it I will be back in buisness.Comment

I know virtualdub has worked for others, and it seems like a stable tool. I wouldn't feel good about giving instructions though. If I were you, I would search for a tutorial -- that will be much more specific than I can get, never having had to use the program myself. the other program I would try is DivFix, which I dont think is the same as the antifreeze tool. That one's simpler, but a little less stable than virtualdub.Comment

For some reason the anti freeze worked but now i need to use it again and for some reason It won't work any more. Does any one know a program that does the same thing as AVI anti freeze but dosen't screw up as much? I need to fix these avi files.Comment

setarip i need your HLEP i have about 6 problems the major ones are that I need to fix some avi files and antifreeze was doing great but now it dosn't work. and when i was using virtual dub on file it said that it couldn't locate the decompressor for it. WHAT DO I DO? I NEED HELP?
this is screwing me upComment

Two alternatives are DivFix and DivXG400.
As far as VDub "not locating the decompressor" - this simply means you don't have installed on your system the codec (video or audio, but most prbably video) used to create the .AVI. Go to the DivX Digest site and peruse the wealth of codec "packs" available.
By the way, (and I'll probably get flamed for saying, rather than just thinking it) I find it amusing that someone would respond to you with several posts about using VDub to "cure what ails you" - and then advise you that he/she has never used it ;>}Comment

thank you but will there be a codec for mp42? I know there are a lot divx drivers but will it have a codec. And what would the divXG400be under in digital Diges?Comment

"thank you but will there be a codec for mp42? I know there are a lot divx drivers but will it have a codec."
All you have to do is read the contents of the packs . Those that are referred to as "codec" packs certainly contain codecs.
"And what would the divXG400be under in digital Diges?"
Both DivXG400 and DivFix will be at:
