Canopus Procoder. Direct encoding of Vobs

I hear that the Procoder can be used to re-encode ripped vobs directly. Apparently all that needs to be done is to change the file extension to m2p or simply mpg.
This supposedly works only with movies with single audio tracks. An easy enough task if you know how to rip the movie correctly.
I haven't tried it myself but am keen to find out whether it works. And even more importantly, if it works quickly.
I know that there are plenty of programs out there that will frameserve to Procoder, but there must be speed loss from this.
If anyone knows/can tell me how to rip vobs so that they only have the one sound track I will give it a try.

    it works

    It worls really well.
The results are awesome and much faster than the frameserved variety.
The rips lack the sophistication of dvd2svcd. (No chapters etc.., alternate audio tracks or subtitles) but the quality and one step no fuss encoding is great for those who don't yet have a clue.

ANY MPEG2 encoding program (TMPGEnc and others) should be capable of processing that same single videostream/single audio stream .VOB by using the same simple concept you've mentioned - namely, changing the extender from ".VOB" to ".MPG"...
