cleaning up audio mpg1

I'm trying to fix an mpg1 video that has low audio and background noises. I have cool edit pro, and can fix the audio up great. But, I can't seem to get the original video and the "new improved" audio back together. cool edit allows me to save a wav of the improved audio, but I need to know how to combine that wav with the original mpg video. I don't want to re-comress the video, just fix the audio track and add it to the original video track.

Altogether, the following should take only several minutes:

1) Load your .WAV audiofile into TMPGEnc. Save with a new name as .MP2 audio.


(Note: for each of the following steps, make certain that the mode is set to "plain vanilla" MPEG1 - or MPEG1-VideoCD if that's actually what you mean)

2) Still in TMPGEnc, select MPEGTools form the "File" dropdown menu

3) Select "DeMultiplex" - and load your original MPEG1 file

4) Doubleclick on the Videostream and save with a new filename - with an .M1V extender

5) Select "Simple Multiplex" - and load the .M1V videostream and the .MP2 audiostream

6) Save with a new filename, with an.MPG extender

Thanks for the help. That was almost too easy! It works great. I tried messing with the multiplexer/demux before I posted here. But, I was unable to get the results I wanted. I realized it was time to "step away from the computer"...
