Is there a program that will let me add subtitles, but also let me choose where to cut the movie in half. Dvd2svcd breaks the movie's in midscene. I am trying to learn how to do this because my parents are nearly deaf and depend on the subtitles. I might just be a little picky, but I hate midscene cuts.

Well you have two diferent ways of doing that. You can split the movie before you preform the encoding or after it. If you want to split the avi file you may use the avisplit and use the vobsub to split the subtitles file and encode it with tmpeg. If you want to split the movie file after encriptation you may use dv-tool.
