    Uncompressed AVI ?

I'm using a Leadtec video capture card. There is an option to capture in an "uncompressed avi " format. Is there a program to compress this format without losing quality ? I want to capture in an AVI format but keeping the video below 700 megs. When its uncompressed its capturing at a rate of something like 16000 kbps.
If someone knows a better option can you let me know.
    Thanks

Unless you intend to perform some sort of editing on your raw video capture (uncompressed avi), then I would capture with compression. If you are using Leadtek's WinFast capture software (as I do - I have a Leadtek A280 Ultra), then there are quite a number of excellent compression codecs to choose from. If you must have avi, then capture/compress using DivX 5, Indeo 5.11, or Mpeg 4. Winfast has excellent Mpeg 1 & 2 Codecs which will give you good quality (VHS or DVD) output direct from capture. If do you decide to go the mpeg route, capture mpegs - don't capture avi and then try to convert it and while there are a number of very good mpeg capture encoders about, I would stick with the codecs that come with the card.
      Cheers

Yep - Vdub sure does capture avi. Recently captured 3mins of raw avi using Vdub (640x480/25fps) out of a total of 4500 frames captured it only dropped 2. Not bad - not bad at all. The size of the file: 2.641Gb. What's more, Premiere didn't object to it at all which is the way I like it.
