    How can I add Closed Captions in a VCD?

    Who knows how can I add Closed Captions in a VCD movie?

    I want to watch a VCD movie with subtitles. I know that VCD format doesn't support subtitles; however, this format supports Closed Captions. Is there a software to do this?

    Thanks.

    You are mistaken, VCD DOES support subtitles.

    GO here to know how to add them: http://forum.digital-digest.com/show...threadid=15997

      Technically, you are mistaken (and the poster is correct) - MPEG-1 VideoCD protocol does not support subtitles. The thread you've pointed to merely provides a way of making subtitles a permanent part of the actual video...

      (Of course, the thread to which you've provided a link may very well prove to satisfy the poster's needs ;>})

        @setarip:

        Ok, so you're saying that if the vcd was already created, there would be no way to add subs to it?

        What about the closed captions? Surely there is no such thing supported with mpeg-1 video?

          "What about the closed captions? Surely there is no such thing supported with mpeg-1 video?"

          Actually closed caption IS supported - because closed captions are incorporated in the videostream, rather than being generated as sub-streams ("SubPic" in DVD lingo)...

          As to how one can extract the closed captioning, don't ask me - I don't believe anyone who has created or uses video-related software in these forums has figured that out ;>}
