    SVCD bitrate

Is it possible to create an Mpeg2 which is above the SVCD 2500kbit/sec bitrate? Would it work on a standalone dvd player?

I have tried encoding an dv AVI using TMPG Encoder (Mpeg2 dvd format), burnt using SVCD format with Nero and playback is jerky and slow on the dvd player. But the image quality and sound is much better.

    Thanks in advance

It will play fine on all standalones that has dvd-rom players that can handle cd-r in more than 2x reading.
the better ones should be able to handle cd-rs at 4x and that's a bitrate of about 5000 kbps.
Most often it's the halfbig brands that are crappiest on their players, cause they install their own dvd-roms that's outdated back to the 20th century.
    - The question is: Why?
