Questions re: copying DVD to CD

My company has produced a short video ad and is providing the sales staff with only VHS and DVD copies for promotional purposes. Many of my customers would prefer it on a CD. I have just installed a DVD ROM and a CD-WR burner on my PC with the intent of producing this ad on CDs. I’m pretty well versed in traditional PC hardware/software since my career has been in IT, but I’m a newbie to the inner workings related to optical media. I’m looking for some jump start advise and/or references regarding processes, file organization, formats, software, etc. for converting my DVD based ad to the correct form for production on CDs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
