Losing sound as well

Hi, I've been having a problem trying to convert avi file to mpeg so it can be played on vcd/dvd player... I've read a few threads in this forum (though I really don't know most of the terms) and I think I might be missing some codecs but I'm not sure...

When I convert the avi to mpeg, it goes on for 40 min longer than it should (it's a 22 min file) and also there is no sound... Here's the information of the file I found on Virtual Dub

Any help would be appreciated^^ I'm currently downloading tsunami filter pack 399 but after getting the codecs, where do u put them?

Your .AVI contains a Variable Bitrate (VBR) .MP3 audiostream, which TMPGEnc cannot process. You'll have to convert it to Constant Bitrate (CBR) .MP3 audiostream as follows:

Simply use NanDub (or VirtualDubMod) to save the audio stream as an Uncompressed PCM (WAV) file as follows:
Load your original .AVI into NanDub
Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy"
Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"
From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Compression" - and choose "No compression(PCM)"
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save WAV" (Enter a new filename with a ".WAV" extender).Click on "OK"
Then set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
Then save the .AVI as a silent .AVI (set "Audio" to "No audio" after you've saved the WAV file).

Then close NanDub and restart it
Set "Audio" to "No audio"
Load your silent .AVI
Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
Under "Audio" click on "WAV Audio" and load your .WAV
Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"
From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Compression" and choose the appropriate .MP3 settings. Click on "OK"
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save as AVI" and save your file with a new filename.


You can then load the silent .AVI (first) and the .WAV audio file (second) into TMPGEnc...
