    May be

    "am i asking the wrong question, how about is there any way i can get these movie files to play in my dvd player"

    Re-encode to VCD.

    [snip]

    "What software do i use?"

    TMPGEnc.
    Don't wory if the files are 700+MB, as long as they are < 800MB.

        Mode1 = 700mb approx
        Mode2 = 800mb approx

        Mode2 uses the extra 100mb that Mode1 uses for error correction.
        MPEG1/2 have their own error correction.

        When buring the svcd in your favourite burning app, ensure you choose SVCD and not data cd.

        SVCD can be burned to about 815-820mb

              What to use instead of Nero

              If you want to do VCDs you may want to try out the package at

              I see he's gone commercial now but it's cheaper than Nero.
