splitting movie files to put onto VCD

    hi,

i have some movies i want to put onto VCD. but they are too large to fit on one VCD. my burner software doesnt give me the option to split over 2 VCDs (nero) so i figure i need to cut the file in half and put them over 2 VCDs seperately.

anyone know how to do this or any easy to use movie splitting software??

If they are in .AVI format, use VirtualDub to split, as follows:

1)Load your original (DivX-compressed or otherwise) .AVI into VirtualDub or NanDub
    2) Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copying"
    3) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Set Selection Start"
    4) Move slider to approximate halfway point
    5) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Go to next keyframe"
    6) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Set Selection End'
    7) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save as AVI" - Save as a new filename (e.g. "Movie1of2.avi").
    8) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Set Selection Start"
    9) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Move to End"
    10) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Set Selection End"
    11) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save as AVI" - Save as a new filename (e.g. "Movie2of2.avi")

If they are in MPEG-1 format, use TMPGEnc, as follows:

    TMPGEnc>>File>>MPEGTools>>Merge&Cut

thanks for your help/advice. i used the file splitter program and split a movie in half. but when i went to look at the split movie before burning it was jumpy in both picture and sound. any idea what might be causing this?

Its safe to cut your MPEG with BBMPEG but you cant see were you cut (no preview window).

Mpeg2cut (freeware) is a good soft for cutting an Mpeg 1 or 2 (or a vob !) and you a preview window).

TMPENc plus is the best (before 2.52 he was buggy) but you must pay the price for MPEG 2
