Programs to copy DVD to VCD - what is best??

Does anybody know of a better way of copying DVD to VCD I currently use smartripper, dvd2avi, Tmpgenc and Nero but it is very time consuming and I have to sacrifice some quality for copying it quicker.

I have looked at programs that do it all in one go but was warned that they break DVD roms as they continously read for the entire process. And they were right I tried using one and it burnt out my DVD rom.

Is there such a package that will copy it well, fast and without continuously reading from the DVD?

If you want an all in one program for doing DVD to VCD
conversion use DVDx 2.2 . to void constant reading of the
DVD drive rip your dvd to harddisk using dvd decrypter. before encoding or give it
a larger amount of ram (there is an option included to set ram use).
I know that there will be members that suggest other
programs and claim DVDx to be buggy but it has worked well
for me anytime I tried it!! you can open DVD ifos or vobs
directly from harddisk with it.

to speed up your procedure with dvd2avi...... I can only suggest
to use the CCE encoder instead of Tmpeg... it is much faster.
but be warned .... it is not as confortable as Tmpeg.

The best "all in one" is DVD2SVCD with tylo's dvddec plugin, and CCE for encoding.

But, you can obtain the best result using BatchCCEWS ( new version of DoCCE4U using CCE with roba method). You ripp the DVD and then, you make an AVI or a script avs and give it at BatchCCEWS.
