Best software for uploading and editing?

Hi

What do you all use for uploading and editing dv (avi) Files to?

I have got a jvc dv camcorder and firewire card at the mo i am using mgi videowave for my transfer and editing but the end results are not good!


So was just wondering what people use!!!

I have got tmpge to transfer to mpeg etc after transfer and edit but just need something good for the first two parts.

Any help plz
