    aspect ratio problem

    hi folks !

i'm experiencing a little problem on my DVD to SVCD conversion.

I'm using the excellent DVD2SVCD. The resulting SVCD has clear picture and sound, but when i load it into my pioneer standalone player, it switches my TV to 16/9 ratio (like it does on widescreen DVDs) and therefore, my SVCD image looks flat. I have to swith back my TV to 4/3 with remote to get correct image ratio !

I know my standalone player isn't falty, i have tons of original SVCDs i bought in hong kong, that do not have that switching problem.

    Anyone knows what's wrong ?

Although I'm not personally familiar with DVD2SVCD, I can only speculate that you've improperly set the output resolution/format...

that's what i thought also, but whatever i do i get the same problem ! On the pc, it plays with the proper aspect ratio but not on the home player.

Also i did a full 4/3 menu for the movie, and the TV flaten it as well !

The only thing that comes in my mind is PAL/NTSC issue. All the VCDs i have that plays fine are NTSC and my backups are all pal. I'll try this, converting my pal movies to NTSC VCDs, maybe...
