    TMPGEnc vs MainConcept MPEG Encoder

    Has somebody tested MainConcept MPEG Encoder? I did it recently and must say that it's a lot faster than TMPGEnc and the quality of the output videos is really impressive (maybe equal to TMPGEnc!)

      I see, anyway I think that still be a great alternative to TMPGEnc and about the price, well...

        As you can see by that thread, "Benjamin" apparently agrees (very strongly) with you ;>}

          Useing only plain MMX it's 2+ times faster.
          Quality? I can't see a difference.
          Only... On my first and last encodeing with MainConcept, everything looks fine, but peoples faces are blue (??).

          Is there something i can do?
          I have MainConcept 1.03.01

          Running on a p200mmx, the same .avi file (only video, no audio), it takes 6+ hours for MainConcept, 13+ hours for TMPGEnc and 19+ hours for LSX-Mpeg Encoder3.5 I think LSX uses the FPU not the MMX instructions, which should be more precise but slower.
          I havent seen any quality inprovement on TMPGEnc over LSX-Encode, as they say.
          It seems to me that LSX is the most relaible of all. Never fails.
          Does not support mp3 but i anyway encode audio first, video later.

          I really would be happy to work it out with MainConcept, coz for me practicly it makes difference of days.

          Thanks

            I suggest you download the latest version (1.4) since has a lot of improvement and bugfixes. I'm using it now without problems.

              Thanks for the replay. If the blue faces is just a bug, maybe it won't come up next time.

              I'm not into installing Dx 8.1 right now

                Can "MainConcept MPEG Encoder" convert .dat from a VCD/SVCD to mpeg1 and mpeg2?

                Can this MainConcept MPEG Encoder convert the ".dats" from VCDs and SVCDs to respective mpeg1 and mpeg2?
