Well, I don't know anything about your soundtrack, but I'll try to help anyways.

On a SVCD, the audio must be: 44.1kHz, Stereo (or Joint), 384kbps or less, MPEG1-Layer2. So how to get there correctly:

    1. Try to save your audio out of your AVI file:
    2. load AVI in VirtualDub, select "Full processing mode" for your audio (PCM) and File->Save WAV. That should give you a WAV file with your audio.
    3. If the WAV file is correct (listen to bits) and the right length (in seconds), just load it into TMPGEnc as your audio track.
    4. Make sure all the Audio settings are set to comply with SVCD.

Let me know if that doesn't work or if the WAV is not correct at point 3.
"on the north side of 'wild-cat peak' the 'snow squaws' shake their winter blankets and bring forth a chill which rides the wind with goad and spur, hurling with an icy hand rime, and frost upon a dreamy land musing in the lap of Spring"
