divx turned into mpeg1 prob

hi ive turned an avi into a mpeg 1 file for vcd, however the file was originally 336mb and is now a wopping 1120mb, i wouldent mind but the film is tiny all the space is black, so my point is how the **** do i cut out the black, REMEMBERING

its in mpeg 1 format
so dont recommend virtual dub, tmpgenc lets me only do the splitting of the first half of the film and mediastudio is far too complicated if it cant be done then would someone at least let me know so im not looking for answers wilst the films become a dinosour

o and if anyone knows how to get rid of the grafiti and subtitles on avi films then that would be much needed

If you are referring to black borders, in TMPGEnc, click on the "Setting" radio button. Click on the "Advanced" tab. Put a checkmark in the "Clipping" box.
