best settings for a vcd or svcd???

Hi, I have a movie file which I wanna encode with TMPGE, the resolution of the source video I have is 640 by 256 (widescreen),
I would like to encode it to watch it on my T.V., what are the settings which will give me the best results for vcd?......would an svcd turn out good with this source file?

quality of svcd is better then vcd.

vcd will be of fixed size 352/288 pal, 352/240 ntsc

svcd will change to 480/480 ntsc, 480/576 pal.

if ur orignal file is of good quality go for svcd.
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!

Just make sure you select the right settings:
        Input (AVI, 1:1) (Advanced tab)
Output (4:3). (Video tab) Some (a lot) SVCD players can't play 16:9 SVCD.

Then you just select Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio) as your Video Arrange method.

TMPGEnc will add the black borders accordingly.
