VCD s to play on my dvd player

I've been trying to convert the avi's I have into something that will play on my dvd player(sony dav s550) which says it supports the vcd format.
I have tried converting through premiere 6.5 and the free download TMPGEnc...but when burned and placed in the player it says "cant read "
I now have enough coasters to be going on with and would love to solve this prob.
    Any tips????
    Thanks

Hi there Davidavos, forecast this morning said you'd be getting snow today?

I've yet to delve into VCD but your applications should do the job. Are you selecting the VCD template and 'finalising' the disk?

You should really, really be practising on CDRW's though till you master the process .. he says .. peering over his mountain of coasters!
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

Not all standalone DVD players will playback all brands of CD media.

To determine the abilities/limitations of your specific brand/model number standalone DVD player, go to:

        Thanks for replies.
My dvd player is supposed to be ok with vcd's but I am still getting the "cant play" message.
I'm sure the VCD files I am making through tmpge and avi2vcd software are ok...
Maybe probd in burning???I am using the standard XP home burning package
        Ta again

Are you burning with Nero and creating a "standard compliant" vcd?
Did you know you can SEARCH the forum? Fixes common problems too:

I got it to work by burning Nero5.5 on windows 98..
I had been trying to use 5.5 on XP home...no joy
