    problem

    hello from greece.
i`m new to vcd creation and have some problems.

i use a pinnacle pctv capture card on my pc to capture from my stand alone dvd player.i make the .mpg and cut it with tmpgenc
    in 2 parts.
then i burn each part with nero.
so far so good.i have made 10 vcd s
    and no problem.
but after i had to make format to my pc i can`t make a vcd playable to my stand alone dvd player.
i use tha same softwear and same discs as before.
i don`t know what is wrong.the new vcd is not playable even with wmp on my ps.
    what can i do?
    please i need your help

"i don`t know what is wrong.the new vcd is not playable even with wmp on my ps."

You should first try to isolate the point at which your problem is occurring:

    1) Does the original, raw captured file play under the Windows Media Player?

    2) Do the two files you've created with TMPGEnc play under the Windows Media Player?

    3) If the answer to 1) and 2) above is "Yes", then the problem is occurring under NERO. If this is the case, I'd suggest that you uninstall and then reinstall NERO.

You could also try, when cutting the file under TMPGEnc, settting the mode to "MPEG1-VideoCD" instead of simply "MPEG1" to create VCD-format MPEG1 files - and then simply using NERO to only burn (not modify the MPEG files) as VCDs.

    Let us know of your success ;>}

i`m sure that the problem is made by nero.
      i have 5.5.0.3 version

when i put a mpeg to record with it nero says that i need mpeg-1
      to burn to vcd
stream encodin is invalid for a vcd and invalid audia stream.
after that i have two options to do: re-encode the video file
or turn off standard compliance and continue.
i do the turn offstandard.... and write the vcd that is not playadle anywhere.
the original movie and the two parts of it after cutting them are playable to wmv.

Now that you've determined that your problem is definitely with NERO Burning ROM attempting to create and burn a VCD, I repeat my earlier suggestion:

When cutting the file under TMPGEnc, set the mode to "MPEG1-VideoCD" instead of simply "MPEG1" to create VCD-format MPEG1 files - and then simply using NERO to only burn (not modify the MPEG files) as VCDs.

what version of nero is the best to use?
          i have amd athlon 1,4 . 256 memory . 40 gb drive . voodoo 3
i capture from cyber home dvd player (stand alone dvd ) to pinnacle pctv video card.
i use cineplayer dvr 2.51 to capture at pal , mpeg 1 , high quality with image size 352 x 288 with recording template 2xcd for best quality.

For simply using NERO to only burn (not modify the MPEG files) as VCDs, it shouldn't make any difference which version you use.

You haven't stated whether you've tried what I suggested (using TMPGEnc to create an MPEG1-VideoCD file and then simply using NERO to burn the VCD). Ifyou have, what were the results?

sorry for the delay my friend.
tmpegenc works o k with the settings you gave me but i found out that sound is little slower than picture.
first i see the man talking and then after 0,5 second i hear the talking.it was my mistake on settings on tmpegenc or the programme has a problem? version 2.50.32.120.
also it is a trial version.

"i found out that sound is little slower than picture. "

Is it possible that your original captured video was out of synchronization? Di you play it before converting it?

"tmpegenc works o k with the settings you gave me"

the only "setting" I mentioned wa to change the mode to "MPEG1-VideoCD. This would not, in any way, affect the synchronization...
