    I don't know what the error means, but I had the same problem.
    I was trying to convert the SVCD to DivX using VirtualDub, as I suspect you are trying to do??

    Anyway I got ahold of a program called Vidomi that converted the SVCD file without any problem..

    Get it at ::

    Hope it works for you!

      VD can only open MPEG1(VCD) and not MPEG2(SVCD).
      don't trust in guides

        Ok..
        then how the hell was i able to convert an svcd movie to divX??
        where you add the files it even says ::

        MPEG-2 / AVI
        Input Files

        and as you clearly stated mpeg2 = svcd

          Not in Virtual Dub...

          Perhaps, you're thinking of Vidomi, or some other program...

            As I clearly stated in my first post!
            Perhaps I new version has come that many are not
            aware of?

              Why don't you share this "new information" and TELL us which version of VirtualDub can DIRECTLY open MPEG2 files? - Or, perhaps, you're referring to using some type of frameserving setup and not Direct loading?

                I think that there's been a misunderstanding.

                The post I was refering to was the one where I
                staited that I used Vidomi to open MPEG-2 files
                and convert them to DivX.

                I am not aware of any version of VirtualDub that can load
                MPEG-2 files.

                  Thank you for the clarification. Now there won't be a bunch of people frantically scouring the Net for the latest and greatest VirtualDub ;>}
