SVCD Mpeg, wrong ratio? Need to make 4:3 into 16:9

Greetings! I'm new here, but you all seem to have a handle on things, so I thought I would hop right in with a question.

I have an SVCD compliant Mpeg that I've burned onto a CD from a bin/cue. Everything would be dandy, except that the image is a widescreen image that is stretched to fullscreen... so I'm looking at a 16:9 clip that is distorted to 4:3.

Any suggestions on how to remedy this? I can pop the SVCD into my pc and pull off the MPEG segment... can I run it through something to convert the video so I can reburn it with the black bars to correct the distortion? Is there some other solution?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Extract the mpeg onto your hard drive, then download and install TMPGenc...then reencode it to SVCD, and make sure the "aspect ratio you select "16:9 display" and also in Other Settings-> Advanced->Video Arrange Method you select "Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio)".

    There.
