    Problems with TMPG QT patch

Just an enquiry if anyone else has had worries encoding Mpeg 2 through TMPG using uncompressed QT files. The video looks great, but there is no audio on the encode, although there is on the original QT. Is there any known audio issues with the QT patch for TMPG or is there a known alternative to encode uncompressed Quicktimes to MPEG 2 (SVCD) on PC for high quality?

"there is no audio on the encode, although there is on the original QT."

Does it play with audio ON A PC, using Quicktime, or only on a Mac?

If you load it under Quicktime, what information does it indicate for the audio format?

The original quicktime to encode plays fine (with audio) on both PC & Mac. Properties in QT are...

Video : Component Video, 480x360, Millions, 25fps (PAL)
Audio : Uncompressed, Stereo, 44.1 kHz, 16 bits
      Size: 2357.5 MB

TMPG is encoding the QT video fine, but still missing the audio...any theories? Whereas encoding an uncompressed AVI with audio works fine, but the QT encodes are looking better.

Have tried using seperate sources (eg. QT video/Wav audio), but we start having syncing problems over the duration of the programs.

Could it be that the QT patch for TMPG is not working correctly?

      Cheers

I would suggest a simple experiment, in order to try to narrow down the cause of the problem. Try using TMPGEnc to encode the file as "plain vanilla" MPEG1 (not MPEG1-VideoCD). There may be limitations of the QT patch of which we are not aware - such as dealing with SVCD and/or "plain vanilla" MPEG2.

I don't have any Quicktime videos handy, or I'd try converting one to SVCD myself, to see if I get the same result as you've described...
