encoding to SVCD with right bitrates

I am converting from Divx to SVCD. Is there any way to tell what the bitrate should be in order for the resulting video to have the exact same quality as the original video.

The result can never be exact as the source there will always be some loss when reencoding, but the limits of a standard SVCD is 2500kbps video, with audio I think it is 2784kbps (than with an audio at 384kbps). If you're using TMPGEnc you could use CQ (Constant Quality) at 100% when you should get as close a result as posible. Just remember that even if the result looks bad on PC it may look near perfect on your TV, due to the TV's much lower resolution.
You can tjek the guides out on www.vcdhelp.com under convert
