      "ANy thoughts??"

As long as you've asked twice, I don't feel uncomfortable saying that I'm not aware of any program that can directly convert Real videos to VCD. the only two programs that I'm aware of that can convert Real videos to ANYTHING (and I understand that neither does it very well) are Tinra and, I believe, EO - which attempt to convert the files to .AVI format...

            Success

            Hi.

I read this post and decided to share my experiences.

I had success using the next programs: TINRA, Virtual Dub, and Nero (don't forget also Real Player 8).

TINRA will convert the Real movie to AVI, there's a modified version of TINRA that supports compression using a codec like divx. But the uncompressed file works pretty well. When you had converted your videos to AVI use Virtual Dub to adjust the framerate and the size (using a filter integrated in the program), 352x240 with 29.97 framerate for NTSC and 352x288 with 24 framerate for PAL.

Now that you have new resized AVIs use them in Nero to make your VCD, Nero will take care encoding your AVIs to MPEG. Nero really does an acceptable work. Finally Nero will burn your VCD

It's highly recommended a PC running at least at 1 GH to get good results with TINRA. An inconvenient could be a little extra work working with frames since Real movies has variable framerates and your AVIs could end with accelerated or slowed scenes.
