    TMPGenc & artifacts

    I converted a divx file (320x240) to mpeg1 format with TMPGenc using the following settings,
    320x240
    1500kb
    Filter "noise reduction" with this values:
    Still picture=40
    Range=2
    Time axis=20

    And the quality of the video improves incredibly but still present some macroblocks & artifacts. Someone knows how to remove them. A filter as virtual dub "temporal smoother" would work fine but unfortunately TMPGenc doesn't have any similar filter.

    Greetings & Thanks for any help.

    You may want to select "soften block noise" and download this special template from vcd-help.com (you'll also find help there). The name of template escapes me, but you'll find it there. Its been suggest on this forum, by Chelly I believe, so do a search. Hope this helps

      I tried with the option "Soften Block Noise" and some presets for this option from some guides and in fact reduce a little the artifact but not soften the edge of the blocks (like VD temporal smoother) and in action scenes is useless.

      anyway, thank you.
