    a question about time?

i recently bumbed into something strange when i encode an .avi file in tmpgenc to svcd standard. the original .avi file is like 45min when i play it on the computer, but after i finished encoding it and playing the disc on my standalone player the lenght of the file is only 31 minutes, it dosent seem like anything is missing thou.

maybe this is a stupid question, but im interested in what happended to the other 14min

    thanx

Sounds like the timecode is fouled up on one of the two files. The simplest thing to do is play both files and see how long they ACTUALLY run...

      ...thanx...

it seems to be that my philips dvd-player have a problem with reading the timecode on the svcd. the time shown on the player goes a little slow compared to what it should. no idea why, only happens when i play an svcd.

Thats quite common. Another prob you might run into is if you try to do chapters on svcd. Your dvd player might work fine by pressing >> and << but not by pressing a chapter number or vice versa. It seems that each dvd brand is different. You just have to experiment with it.
