illegal mpeg video stream! how can i fix this?

Hi,

i am trying to do a simple multiplex in tmpeg and when i open up my mpeg2 file i get an error that says

illegal mpeg video stream

how can i fix this??

Have you previously been able to input MPEG2s into TMPGEnc, or do you possibly require the MPEG2 input plugin available at DVDDigest/DivXDigest (listed under the TMPGEnc downloads)?

yes..i can put in other mpeg2 files

Is this "MPEG2 file" a .m2v file or something else? - such as an SVCD file, which you might first have to convert to "plain vanilla" MPEG2...

it is an mpeg2file.it wont open in tmpeg at all. its has the extension .mpg at the end.

Based on the assumption that this is a file you've downloaded, I'll ask a couple of additional questions:

1) Have you successfully played this file?

2) How did you determine that it's "plain vanilla" MPEG2 and NOT in SVCD-MPEG2 format?

this isnt a downloaded file..this is an file from an svcd. basically i copied over the movie file from the svcd to my harddrive. however the file does play fine in powerdvd.
