DVD->SVCD Keep to 2 CD's

I have tried using a couple different encoders, and so far find DvdX 1.8a works pretty well. I have at least one issue that is bugging me. I would like to keep the rip down to 2 CD's if possible and it seems like it is at least 3 and sometimes 3.25 cd's to finish the rip.
What I want to know is there some settings that will perhaps shrink the audio portion so that it fits on two CD's?
I know I have downloaded a couple SVCD's from the internet that fit on 2 CD's that look and sound fine.
BTW, I am ripping with SmartRipper, burning with Nero.
I am using an Apex 800 DVD player which I have been quite happy with (Seen them at Sam's Club for $99!)

If you're presently converting the audiostream at 48,000Hz, change it to 44,100Hz...
