Windows Media Player 7.1 refuses to play a .mpg file!!! plz. help...

    Hi,

I have a vcd with a .mpg file. My system is Pentium pro 200 MHz and I am trying to play this file in Windows Media Player 7.1. It gives me the following mesg and doesnt play the file.

    Windows Media Player Error
    ------------------------------------
Can not play back the file. The format is not supported.

Any help what could be wrong. Do I need some Codec thing or like. I am sure the Media player supports .mpg format but I dont understand why it refuses to play this file. Thanks!

"I have a vcd with a .mpg file."

VCDs typically have a ".DAT" file rather than ".MPG". On the other hand, SVCDs (which the Media Player CANNOT play) usually contain ".MPG" files...
