playing vcd in a dvd player

i used the following software to go from DIVX to vcd virtualdub(to split the movie into 2 parts)/and nero v5.5.9.9 to burn and change the format. QUESTION IS......... did i do it right ?
When i play the movie on the DVD player the audio is not in sync with the video(it is slightly behind the video by aprox. 3 secds)...

I am a rookie at this

note: my dvd player is a machine that plays dvd/vcd/mp3/ect.. it is a machine you CONNECT TO YOUR T.V... NOT a dvd player in my computer.

    PLEASE PLEASE HELP !!!

    thanks , john

    Try Nandub instead of virtualdub.

Be sure that you're encoding in "full processing mode" and "no compression".
