    How to play a VCD?

    I followed the guide to create a VCD. I have now a CD with various directories, no file in the root directory and Windows XP just open the CD when I insert it and only shows those directories.
    No file extention is recognised, I managed to run the film after associating a .dat file with Windows Media Player
    That's kind of cumbersome, I am missing something?
    Thanks a lot for your help

    VCD-format CDs will typically be automatically recognized, loaded, and run by software DVD players, such as WinDVD.

    By the way, since MANY programs generate .DAT (standard for "Data") files, you might want to disassociate that filetype from the Media Player.

    Last but not least, you can simply run the Media Player and "drag and drop the VCD's .Dat file onto it. It will start playing automatically.

    Let us know of your success ;>}

      Thanks, I just did what you proposed and it worked. I also dissociated .dat files with WMP, thanks even more for this one!

      Drag and drop works!

      What is strange though is that I do have a DVD player program, Cyberlink PowerDVD, but anyway...
