I been having issues with the video breaking up. So i posted for help on the TMPGEnc board and surprisingly they had the same problems and the first 2 replies mentioned Imation CDs that caused the glitch. Well now I am going to have to find new cds to use. Any ideas what works well? Memorex seem to be pretty cost effective but I notice they scratch easily. What about brands like Maxell, Verbatim, TDK? Where can I get these things cheap...Best Buy is my source right now but there has got to be cheaper places. Thanx for the help!!!!
CDs not worth my VCD.....

I also experienced similar problems with IMATION cd's when creating vcd's (manufacturer is actually CMC MAGNETICS)...during camera moviement, the picture would become noticebly "jerky".
I have found Smartbuy (Prodisc) cd-r's to be cheap and good.
Verbatim Datalife plus (Mitubishi chemical corp.) are very good for me. -
Thanx for the help....I am going to pick up some verbatim discs today. I don't know if I can find the exact ones u mentioned. Will a different kind of verbatim work? What speed do you recommend burning the VCD at? I have a Liteon 40x burner.Last edited by I26; 2 Mar 2003, 11:17 PM.

I found the Verbatim Datalife Plus CDs for $30/50 Pack. Its the colored ones. I label them anyways. Best Buy sells them. I guess I could still use the Imation discs for backing up the DivX versions of all my movies incase I ever need to make another VCD out of one of them.

I haven't had any problems with imation cd's when making a vcd *grins*
As for the burning of the vcd, some will be jerky if you burn them higher than at 12x. Do some tests and see what speed is the best. I rather wait a bit longer and have a perfect vcd instead of making another coaster.Did you know you can SEARCH the forum? Fixes common problems too:

I burn at the absolute minimum speed I Can burn (8x---I don't think there is anway NERO or Easy CDCREATOR allows me to go lower than that speed).
Verbatim's are generally good quality, but I haven't burned them at full speed. The one's I used were Verbatim Datalife plus "certified" to write at 48x. Fuji discs are also very good quality, as is Kodak, but you pay a high price.
However, in Canada Verbatim's are generally expensive, so I'm still looking for cheaper solutions.
I like to use CDRIDENTIFIER to divulge exactly who manufactured the discs. Sometimes, unbranded discs can be manufactured by leading cd-r produces (Taiyo yuden of Japan, Mitubishi, etc...)Last edited by Batman; 3 Mar 2003, 01:13 AM.Comment

Well I bought a 100pack of Verbatim Datalife Plus. And burned part one of the vcd at 4x using Nero and my Liteon 40x burner. Still i get those funky parts that break up. Not at same place as before. I am starting to blame it on VCDEasy. I am gonna burn one without adding chapters and see. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Well i think i figured it out. Any vcd i made that i didn't add chapters to works great. The ones i used VCDEasy on to add chapters break up. Well so much for chapters.
