I've burned a couple of home-made VCDs using Nero 5.0.48. The VCD images were made using DVDx 1.6. The VCDs were burned onto CompUSA 16x 80min CDRs. As a result, the Apex AD-600A standalone DVD player plays them fine.
However, when I create a SVCD having 480 x 480 resolution with 224 kBit/s audio at 23.97Hz, which DVDx 1.6 reports as SVCD compliant for NTSC. The image is then burned onto the CompUSA CDR as above. The CDR works fine on the PC. Unfortunately, when the Apex takes some 3 minutes to detect that there is one chapter on the CDR, which is true. But it doesn't play. The play button doesn't do anything.
In the Nero "Video CD" for the SVCD has an option for "Videos directory" structure. I even tried MPEGAV besides MPEG2 (SVCD standard) but that didn't help either.
Maybe I should try different CDRs?
Has anyone have successful story with SVCD and Apex? What CDRs did you use? etc...
