Read Wrong VCD format in PC

Dear all,

I have a VCD which can be playable by VCD player box. However, when I put it into PC (win98 platform), my PC showing that it is a CD format (Audio only). As a result, I can play it in PC's software player. Actually, this CD should be a VCD.

Why this problem occur? Is it encrypted by writer to avoid copy?

What can I do to read this VCD in PC?

PS. My PC can play lots of VCD except this one read in CD format.

Try installing WinDVD or PowerDVD and playing it in there.

Tried before, but also cannot read/ play this VCD.

I think we should solve on how to read the disk format from CD to VCD first. I think this disk is write protected.

Any idea?

You don't say whether the VCD giving you the trouble is an original or a ripped copy. VideoCDs are almost identical to their Audio counterparts, in that the first track is a standard ISO 9660 data track containinig files which tell the player how to handle the remaining tracks on the disc. The current standard for VideoCD is 2.0. When you play the VCD in your stand alone player the first thing you should see is either VCD 1.0 or VCD 2.0. When you have determined which of the two standards is used, then check that the PC player will accommodate that standard. By and large any VideoCD-capable DVD will can play commercially stamped silver VCD. If you have a Creative Audigy Sound card it comes with a player which will play VCDs.

If all else fails, extract the avseq_.dat file(s) from the vcd using ISOBUSTER.

dear,
i was have a problem like yours. i made vcd using nero, it could be played on tv, but could not ba played on pc. then i burned use another software, primo prassi. it was success...
my friend told me that my nero need to be upgraded. perhaps its about the driver, because i change my new cd-writer.
