VCD or SVCD pops/clicks

Whe i play any mpeg1 or 2 on my pc with either WMP8 or Elecard player i get pops/clicks.

No problems with all other formats DIVX/XVId etc

Omly files with the extention .mpg

Any ideas - iffy codec?

I had this problem some time ago and cured it by turning off the effects in my sound card (cave, stadium, concert hall, etc). Try playing the video clip with all effects turned off - just raw audio output from the sound card.
