    VCD on Mac?

I was wondering if its possible to playback VCDs on a MAC. There's an iMAC and the person wants to play VCDs on it that I'm burning. I have tried to load a couple free programs on, but the VCDs wont play.

Can anyone reccomend what to do to try to get a VCD playing on an iMAC? Do some codecs or anything needed to be loaded or something. Can anyone reccommend a program or something to try?

I'm really not a fan of Macs at all, just tryin to help someone out.

    Thanks,

    ~J

Try converting the VCDs to "plain vanilla" MPEG-1 files, which I believe should be playable on the IMac...

        TMPGEnc>>File>>MPEGTools>>Simple Multiplex

        1) Select the "AVSEQ001.DAT" file from the VCD from the "SimpleMultiplex" "source" box

        2) Set the mode to "MPEG-1 System (automatic)

        3) Save with a new name (with an extender of ".MPG")

          just one more question...

I must say you've been very helpful. I guess its a G3, not an iMAC. Is there any software that needs to be loaded, like Divx for Mac or anything to play it, or can i just open up the .DAT file of the CD in Windows Media Player?

So setting it to MPEG-1 System (Automatic) makes it so it will work on PCs and MACS? Is there any difference between that one and the MPEG1 VCD I was on before?

Yes. "MPEG-1VCD" contains additional information (in the header and, perhaps, elsewhere throughout the file) required specifically for DVD player playback, which I don't believe the "Apple world" is capable of handling. The "plain vanilla" version of MPEG-1 that I suggested, is a generic MPEG-1 format, which should be recognizable.

" I must say you've been very helpful."

            My pleasure ;>}

should i just burn that one file onto a CD to get it to play? Or should I go through Nero and do it without converting it?

Simply burn it as a data CD...

of course it would figure that the 3 files converted to MPGEG1 System automatic are now each too big for a cd (i believe 820mb each).

Are there ways to merge them all together easily into one file and cut them again?
