Viewing SVCD on your Standalone

I think I am missing something crucial here friends and therefore I
need help with this one. (big risk of "dubble posting" this but
after checking with my own concious (and sanity ) I feel I have
changed it so no misstakes are being made. to the subject
pliiiz :

I have an SVCD on my HD
I want to play this on my Stand Alone DVD (and yes it supports
SVCD, VCD, DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD-R plus a few more)
What (preferably step by step please friends) do I have to do ?

If i just burn it over as a Data file with Easy CD creator it doesn't Work
If I burn it as an Image first (with eg. CDRwin or A120%) it doesn't Work

I'm afraid I have tried on DVD+R and CD-R a few times too many
and I'm getting desperate...

when you say that you have a SVCD on your HD does it mean,
that you have a cue and a bin file???

If so you normally just have to burn that image to cd
as you burn any other Image with the option burn Image ... or similar.

I suggest also to get rid of easy cd creator and use nero instead.

you could also use the deamon tools to mount that image .
no ... wait you can not since easy cd often messes up deamon tools..... sorry.

do not simply pull the cue or bin into your burning file browser
refer to the cue file to burn it.

While if you have an svcd compliant .mpg/.mpeg/.dat file, just use easy cd in video disk mode
(if it's .mpg/mpeg, easy cd will "convert" it to .dat for you; that is, it will copy the .mpg file to a .dat extension and burn it in a compliant directory structure)

first : thanks for your answers. I do love this forum. It's the best
by far !!

To Shiny#3 : I am sorry. It's not a .bin .cue file. It's an "SVCD
compliant" file in -mpeg format (I think mpeg 2). But now thanks
to you I know what to do if I do get a .bin file in the future.
I actually can mount those images in both DT and A120% without
any crashes despite the fact I have easy CD creator installed on
my comp. Maybe I am "one of the few" that can do this but it's a
fact.

to Qyd : When you say "use easy cd in video disc mode" do you
by that mean that I should burn it as a data ? I need you (if you
have the time) to elaborate a bit and guide me through it.
I have made quite a few "backup copies" with games (using A120)
and I have used easy cd to make music CD's (no problem). It is
only when I try to "burn a movie" that I feel like a complete "illiterate".

I am embarrassed (spelling ??) to tell you that at the moment
I only have easy cd creator and CDRwin and A120%. Surely
it can be done by one of those burners ?

I will however get NERO in the near future so if this forum
tells be "it can't be done" then I just have to wait a few days
untill I scramble enough money to buy NERO.

In roxio's application selector (where you choose what you want to burn: data cd, music cd, etc) one of the options is Video CD; it launches the "Video CD creator" (i'm not sure about the name, as i'm not home right now);
however, if you have some OEM version of the roxio suite, Video CD will not be enabled.

Thanks Qyd,

I checked and realized that the poxy Easy CD Creator that I
had installed when buying the PC (trust Dell to be cheapskates)
was naturally some halfhearted version, hence my problems.
I bought Nero instead and uninstalled the other. I will check
back here once I get it (disc version of Nero) and tell you if I
have any further "hick ups"

Once I get NERO is there "one more step" I have to go through
b4 I can burn it to CD-RW or DVD+RW ?
I read somewhere on this forum that Nero requires the file to be
a .vob file. But if that is true why bother making it into an .mpeg
file in the first place if your reason for doing it is to watch it on a
standalone ? Now I am getting really confused

To Qyd;

I now have got my Nero CD and installed it. I am a Happy
owner of a 6,0 version. What now ? ( )

As I mentioned I have a movie on my HD (it's a SVCD .mpeg
file) that I can watch on my puter. I tried last night to burn
this movie onto both CD-RW and DVD+RW but none of them
worked so I am afraid I still don't get it. .
First I tried to just copy this movie as a DVD to a DVD+RW but
my standalone cannot read that.
Next I tried to burn the movie as an SVCD onto a CD-RW and
I then got it to extract the file into a few other but still "No dice".
So shall I first create a folder and naming it VIDEO_TS and then
drag the SVCD .Mpeg file into that folder ? Is that my "Lissing Link" ?

Hopefully my last Q in this matter my frd...

Nope! Apparently not

Surely it is possible to burn SVCD .mpeg onto a DVD+R
the same way as you do onto a CD-R Qyd ?

I am getting further and further out on the thin ice here

Hi again all you wonderful helpers.

The solution to many of my problems was that the DVD/VHS Player
that I bought and paid USD 311 for didn't play my SVCD. They were all
perfectly copied and I realized it when a friend borrowed
som to test on his.
Idiot ! You might call me but the thing is i specifically asked and
paid for a DVD that should be able to play VCD and SVCD and the
sales rep. told me Funai DPRV-2700 could do it...

He Was lying me straight in da face ! so take heed people. Funai
cannot play either SVCD nor VCD (that I know of)

I just feel embarrased causing troubble for you (and me)
Good thing is: I will surgically insert this Funai DPVR-2700 into the
sales guy on saturday and get a Philips instead
