Power DVD plays a file, WMP won't

I've got a VCD MPEG-1 file taht plays perfectly on Power DVD, but plays only the audio stream on WMP. For the same reason (I think) the same file can't be burned on a CD-R by Nero (only the audio gets burned), and it can't be processed by Movie Maker or Nero Express. At first, I thought some codec is missing but...why it works so fine with Power DVD? Anyone with the same problem? Any clue?

Are you sure it's not an MPEG-2 (or MPEG2-SVCD) file?

Well, Nero says it is a Mpeg-1. Is there some more accurate check I can do?
