Cannot play cvd in stand alone

I made a VCD originally with Nero.

I had an Avi file , 352x240 , 29.97 fps.

Nero converted the file and made the VCD.

I cannot play it in my stand alone dvd player. The player does not recognize the vcd.

I tried to make a VCD with VCD easy same thing again.
I tried VCD 1.1 , VCD 2.0 . Same thing again.

Where do I start to trouble shoot this.

found the problem. My DVD player does not read CD-R it needs CDRW.

But the odd thing is I remember making VCD and reading them with this DVD player. Maybe it's how the disk is made. Dont know.
