    question in Fixing mpeg problems!

hi, im new to CD-R buring but understand what i need to do. i have a problems though! ive downloaded an mpeg2 (svcd) file that works fine on my comp but when i want to burn it using VCDEasy i get bad packet errors! i dont want to burn the disk incase it means it wont play, its took me a while to understand and take in all of the Video creating techniques etc lol.. i just need help from someone with expert knowlegde or someone who understands the problem!

I need a Media (Mpeg2) fixer, which fiexes the bad sectors! i cant find one anywhere, All media Fixer works but i need to register so that it fixes the picture end of the file (fixes the audio side no problem) how do i know it'll work unless its fixed before!

    Anyway sorry for yelpin on..

Also good advice on Avi encoders would be cool, (Avi to svcd-etc i mean)

thanks for reading, hope it all makes sense!

Load the mpeg 2 file into VirtualDubMod or Nandub. Go to "File" > "File Information" and post what is listed in both the video and audio sections of the dialog box.

also, when i burn a .cue image or nero/etc any image to disk the thing first off to doesnt seem to copy full (i get the write cd dialog when loading the cd into my computer after a successful burn)

i have managed to change the image ratio or dvd type to ntsc (the same as the image - its an american dvd) the thing is i get a "wrong file type" file message appear on my standalone dvd player! im not sure what iv done wrong up to that point!

but anyway... ill post the info when the VirtualDubMod is downloaded! thanks!

Have you tried burning with another application such as Nero?

tried but it burns and wont play in the dvd player or ps2! it should id say but doesnt... the .dat file when extracted from the svcd image (.cue) and stripped into an mpeg2 file (iso buster) seems to have errors! i analsyed the file in VCD easy and it went okay:

            "MPEG2, PlayingTime=2890.004s, Bitrate=0bps, PtsOffset=0733s, 358729 packets

Video Stream: Motion Video,** 480x576, 25fps (PAL), 2520800bps**
Audio Stream: Audio Standard MPEG layer2 Stereo, 44100Hz, 224kbps"

but when i authorise it again so that i can reimage/burn it to a new cd-rw i get..(see the attached image...) im not too sure what it means but, as a guess it wont play anyway because of the framerate being to pasey?

i usually get a lot of errors - as im in a PAL only country (doesnt help) lol

the file is deffinately a PAL file though... VCD picks this info up.
seems to burn it in 20 odd mintues too, which seems strange! i use a xp3000 see?! maybe it makes no difference!

could i ask also if playback works for the ps2 on ntsc and pal? or is there a way to change region ( its probably a ****e question to ask.. i know the answer i think!)

i dont understand the wrong format display when puttin the disk in the dvd drive (i tried it on PAL and NTSC) no luck!

last thing, sorry too much info could it be the file was an SVCD-DVD copy (instead of SVCD) then ---->> to a bin image.. would this make any difference?

            thanks a lot mate...

danbeherenow. :NOTE: sorry. this reply is responding to the post above but the screenshot is of a different but corresponding file (i have the same problems with both).
