playing mpeg2 in a .bin file

    hi,

i recently learned that svcd movies (from a bin/cue format) can be played with regular media player if u install elecard mpeg2 decoder; i thought it's good news since converting from bin/cue to mpeg via vcdgear, the quality is not the same

but it doesn't work for all movie svcd's tho (meaning some svcd bin/cue will play and some don't); i wonder why that is

Actually, since all you're doing to the video is extracting is and not re-encoding it, you do NOT lose any video quality.

As for why some dont play in WMP, you should choose PowerDVD to play your SVCD's.

well, i did use powerdvd to test play those bins that didnt work with bsplayer, but they didnt play on powerdvd either; i extracted them to mpeg with vcdgear and they play fine

the trouble wtih the mpg that were converted from bins via vcdgear is that very often, i see little grains of whatever appearing in the video and i have never seen that similar thing with divx/xvid; i have tried to use isobuster to extract the bins and i get the same effect on the mpeg.
