I think you ment to say cant play Vcds but try opening the .dat file located in the folder mpegav. Open it through Quicktime.

Open your Windows Media Player. "Drag and drop" the file named "AVSEQ001.DAT" onto the Media Player. It should start to play automatically.

      Let us know of your success ;>}

Thanks setarip, but I have a question I don't see the "AVSEQ001.DAT" file...Where do I go to get that file?

Deus...I can't open the "dat" file with quicktime. I was able to open the "dat" files in the mpegav folder with Mediaplayer.

I was referring to the .DAT file(s) in the MPEGAV folder. It sounds like you managed to do as I suggested - Congratulations!

            Thanks again for the help.
Can you tell me the formatting difference between a VCD and A SVCD? I can't get the SVCD to play on my stand alone DVD player. It played perfectly fine on my PC.

Not all standalone players are capable of playing SVCDs...

So, would you suggest converting the SVCD to VCD if I want it to play on my stand alone player?

You havent said weather your DVD player is Cdr-w and Vcd compadable though. You can see biut puting in a music cd that you burned on your computer. Most older Dvd players will not read cdrw's

Sometimes it also depends on which burning software you use. For example, my dvd player refuses to play any vcd/svcd burned with Roxio Easy Cd Creator but works fine with Nero. Also try burning trial files on cd-rw media. Some players will accept this but not cdrs.

SVCD on Stand alone DVD Player?

                        First off. I'm blonde.

I have read through these posts here and I seem to have the same problem as firsttimer?

I have two movies here that we can only watch via the PC. I'm not sure what files they are any more. SVCD? Mpeg 2?

The destructions (Instructions) for the stand alone DVD say that it will play SVCD's? -points to the manual-

I'd like to be able to convert the files. The thing is. My brother in law burnt the discs via Nero. We havent had a problem with his other stuff before. The DVD will play other movies that were done in the same batch.

                        Any help would be appreciated.

                          Hi Samaena,
I am not sure if it would work or not....try using tmpgne to extract the files and then use nero to burn it as a VCD....hope it work, cause I am trying that with my other SVCDs. I have post that question over on the conversion forum.
