I found a new way to convert VOB straight to Mp3!!!

    Hi all,

Perhaps this isn't novel at all, but it seems to (somewhat) work for me. I've been trying to find a way to convert a VOB straight to an MP3, and for some reason I couldn't get either BeSweet or Vob 2 Audio to work for me.
Then I tried using GraphEdit with the LAME directshow filter.
    Here's what I tried:

    File Source (Async.)
    Ligos MPEG Splitter
    InterVideo Audio Decoder
    Wave Dest
LAME MPEG Layer III Audio Encoder
    File Writer

You can even choose the LAME settings you like (CBR vs VBR) and downmix the audio from 48kHz to 44kHz.
Here's the catch: For some reason, I can't get it to work with the "I-Media Mulitple MPEG2 File Source" filter - so you have to compress your VOB's into MP3's separately then join them.
If anyone can think of a way to use the "I-Media Mulitple MPEG2 File Source" filters with this method, I'd like to hear about it.
Comments anyone? Maybe this isn't so new after all?

I think this is very bad. There is a very large risk of getting stream switch, and/or sync problems at the end of the movie.

I would suggest that you use DVD2AVI, open first vobfile, set audio to demux all, and save as a project.
This will create an ac3 file for each audio stream in the vobfiles.
Which can then be converted to mp3 using Besweet.
Donate your idle CPU time for something usefull.

Hmmm... You were very right about the audio synch problems. I found a way to use GraphEdit with I-Media Multple MPEG-2 File Source, but I was restricted to encoding at 48kHz. This was good because I didn't have to join any Mp3 files for the soundtrack, but it was bad because the audio didn't play back as nicely as it could (due to my soundcard). AND, there were really horrific synch problems - audio displacement AND stretched audio. Blech. However, I got it up and running finally...

Don't know why I can't get BeSweet to work...
