Totally frustrated!!!

I find that I have to use Mpeg2Avi + GraphEdit + VirtualDub to encode my DivX's. I'd love to use Flask, just so that I can wake up to a newly minted DivX, but I've encountered problems with Flask 0.594, 0.6, and even XMPEG.

My main problem with Flask .594/.6 is that when I go to select the audio codec I can only choose to encode with an Mp3 at bitrates ranging from 8 - 39 kbs - which is absurd! Sometimes, and I'm not sure what I'm doing to make it work properly - a whole new AVI Plugin screen pops up with tons of choices for the Mp3 codec.

Also, I'd love to use LAME, but its not listed as an option - and I've tried lots of different ways to register the .ax & .dll.

I'd also love to use Vob 2 Audio, but for some strange reason the program won't list any audio streams - so I can't use the program. Any ideas?

If you are using Flask, first select and configure the video codec, click OK and re enter de codec configuration. Only then will all audio codecs appear.

The problem with flask (or rather one of the problems) is that it will sometimes get confused when multiple mp3 codecs are installed on the system. Try removing all but one, in 'control panel'->multimedia->devices->'Audio compression codecs'.

i expect thst from flask, as it has many flaws. the best advice i can give u is to move to gordian knot. thats if u want 2 wake up the next morning and look a dvd quality rip.

Flask is very very bad....I used it but didn't like the quality, also, from this forum, u can tell that people are dying to grab the programmer of flask by the neck and trying to strangle him!

Use Nandub 2pass method (look at guide) or DVDx

You need to make sure that you have a valid .lst file for Vob2audio to work on. It is basically a list of the VOB files that you want to extract the audio from. Else, the sound stream in the VOB files are in DTS format and, if memory serves me correct, you need to use Flask 0.6 to extract the audio to simple .wav file.

Coming back to your MP3 problem, it is a common one amongst others and this is the reason why I recommend processing the audio separately and muxing the resultant MP3 file with the video at a later stage. Here's how it goes:
1. Extract .wav file (You already have an idea on what to do)
2. Edit the .wav, such as amplifying it, if you wish
3. Encode to .mp3 using any MP3 encoder, such as LAME
4. Mux the .mp3 with the .avi you are creating using Virtual/nandub

There seems to be something else you are confused about. You don't need to register anything to use LAME. Just use the command options, or as a better alternative, use a GUI-based LAME encoder, such as RazorLame, and point it to where the LAME is stored in your system.
