DivX 5.02 stutters once every second...

umm i'm just learning to encode dvds my self but i had this same stutter...i found that dvdx which does my encoding using divx5 was set as a defualt to buffer on the hard drive ...when i switched it to buffer to ram i lost that stutter and my videos played smoothly

interesting...is that a function only within dvdx, or is there a similar function within other encoders, players, or the DivX decoder itself?

Interleave option

You originally said that you were interleaving audio every 500 ms. Why not interleave every 1 or 2 frames , the overhead is quite small & not significant compared with the size of the audio data.
